The business started
with the love of a husband making dreams come true. Donna Haslam and George
Haslam started testing in 2001 and Busy Bee Candle Shop was established in
2003. George (the vendor’s father) retired a couple years before Amy got
involved in the business. When Donna (the vendor’s mother) and Amy started they
wanted something cute for the website name.
The 4 year veteran admin of the Facebook page, Peggy Baker, helped them
come up with Sniff My Tarts. The business is still established as Busy Bee
Candle Shop. Much of their wax is
inspired by food recipes and pictures.
- Products
- Wax melts in a variety of shapes and colors.
- Where to Order: www.sniffmytarts.com
- Availability: This is a made to order company so there are no restocks. They open about twice a year and try their best to give everyone an opportunity to order. They currently have mystery boxes on the websites and hope to keep them up for a fair amount of time.
- Turn Around Time (TAT): The average TAT on custom orders is 6+ months. They do make this well known about the long TAT before the openings. They try their best to get the orders shipped as quickly as possible.
- Price:
$$$
- Cure Time: The vendor tests the scents within a 24 hour time frame of making the item. If the scent does not throw within the 24 hour time, the scent does not make the scent list. Because they do not recommend a cure time, it is the customer's personal preference. They feel that transit is plenty of cure time.
- Warmer Recommended: The wax is very versatile. It truly depends on personal preference on if you want a light longer lasting throw or a strong shorter lasting throw. The vendor personally prefers a glade warmer or a 24 watt hot plate.

- Clean and simple, yet elegant looking.
- Colorful, but appropriately colored for the scents.
- Cold Smell:
- Fruity Pebbles - This scent is fruity wonderfulness. It smells very similar to my favorite scent of all time, Fruit Loops!

- Lemon Cream Puff - A sweet creamy lemon scent.
- Oatmeal Raisin - A realistic oatmeal scent with sweet cinnamon sugar note.
- Orange Danish - A sweet creamy orange scent with subtle bakery notes.

- Pretzel - A subtle baked bread like scent with a subtle salty notes.
- Blueberry Cream - A creamy blueberry scent.

Wax Melting Review:
- Detailed Description of Each Smell
- Fruity Pebbles - This scent truly smells like a freshly opened box of fruity pebbles. Just wonderful!
- Lemon Danish - A tart lemon scent.
- Lemon Cream Puff - A light sweet creamy lemon scent.
- Oatmeal Raisin - This bakery scent is a realistic oatmeal like base with sweet cinnamon sugar undertones.
- Orange Danish - A pastry like bakery scent with subtle orange undertones.
- Oreo Cream - A light creamy chocolate like scent.
- Pretzel - A wonderful salty bakery scent. Although this scent was decent on its own, the blending possibilities are endless!
- Blueberry Cream - A light creamy blueberry scent.
- Pumpkin Cream Cheese Roll - I expected a desert like scent with this scent, but I got more of a main course. This was a wholesome pumpkin like dish with very little sweetness. It smelled like pumpkin with subtle spices and a little cream cheese. Not bad, just not what I was expecting.

- Graham Crackers with Cream Cheese Frosting - A delicious sweet bakery scent that is essentially a creamy cinnamon sugar scent.

Sum Up:
- Overall Impression
- This vendor is difficult to order from, but
if given the opportunity I knew after receiving the vendor’s wax in a
destash that I just had to order more. This vendor will have a permanent
spot in my collection as long as I can keep the drawer stocked.

- Fruity Pebbles - I honestly didn’t hate this scent, but remaining in the same room with it was very intense. It is like the scent got trapped and built up. My fiancé liked it though, so I gave it to him.
- Lemon Danish - The lemon is too tart for me. When a lemon scent is this tart it reminds me of lemon pledge.
- Oreo Cream - The scent just didn’t do anything for me.
- Pumpkin Cream Cheese Roll - Just not what I was expecting.
- How the wax could be improved?/Was it missing something?
- Orange Danish - I think adding a little plain orange fragrance oil would truly set apart this particular scent from the same scent offered by other vendors.
- Lemon Cream Puff - I couldn’t bring myself to add this to the like or dislike pile. I simply want to wait and see if it gets stronger with more cure time. The scent it gave off was very faint, but I did enjoy it.
- Pumpkin Cream Cheese Roll - The scent is in desperate need of some added sweetness.

- Blonde Moment & Chicks Dig It with Cream Soda Overpour - 3 This scent was subtly strong. Not particularly noticeable in any one room (even the one it was melting in), but coming back within the area you could undoubtedly smell it.

- This vendor is difficult to order from, but if given the opportunity I knew after receiving the vendor’s wax in a destash that I just had to order more. This vendor’s hard to get availability may not prove worth a permanent box in my collection because I honestly don’t have enough money at any particular time be able to put in large order during infrequent restocks to keep said drawer stocked.

- I think this scent may have
been stronger without the cream soda overpour, but that was by no way the
vendor’s fault. I created the blend, so I take responsibility. I am going
to give my blend a little more cure time to see if the throw strengthens.

Anything Else?:
- Is it worth the wait? I don’t know to be honest. This vendor does have some really realistic scents. Are all of them amazing? No, but every vendor has some scent that someone somewhere probably dislikes. This is just one of those vendors you have to try for yourself to in order to decide if you like the wax enough to wait the long TAT.
